Duke's Honors Webster Elementary Educator of the Month

Mary graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Planning and Administration, and she holds a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from California State University, LA.  She also holds a certificate in Dietary Guidance from the Cooper Institute. Mary developed a nutrition curriculum, Eat a Rainbow™, for grades K-5 which she has taught to hundreds of classes over the past ten years at both Webster and Point Dume Marine Science Elementary School.  Most recently, Mary taught 4^th and 5^th grades at Point Dume, and now teaches a third grade class at Webster. She worked for many years in the entertainment industry in operational and human resources management. After her son was born, Mary's focus shifted from corporate life, to the care, feeding, and education of children. Her life long passion for food, strong interest in nutrition, and enthusiasm for teaching remain the foundation for her current work. In her continuing mission to teach more children, Mary’s new website, Eatarainbow.com, will soon carry her important lessons to a wider audience.
